Gene Kelly was a Hollywood original. He had a unique charisma and talent that will live on forever in his films. His kind of performances will never again be seen on the silver screen. I adored him.

Perhaps the greatest of the screen song and dance men. Took modern dance to a new level of athleticism and both sang and acted much, much better, more convincingly, than Astaire. Great performances in virtually every role he took: The Pirate, Singing in the Rain, For Me and My Gal, and It's Always Fair Weather. Very down-to-earth and unpretentious guy who stood out as the genuine article back when stars were really stars, not like the enduring freakscenes of today like M. Jackson or that positively horrible B. Spears.

Oh how I loved Gene Kelly. He created art with his feet, and he was more appealing to watch to dance because it was smooth, high class or elegant like Fred Astaire many times. It was rough at times, like walking with a beat and being spontaneous with ones feet. He displayed a certain charm, confidence and wit in his films. He was great in Singing in the Rain, An American in Paris, On The Town, and Anchors Aweigh. But he was also fantastic in the drama Inherit The Wind.

Fell in love with him when I was 8. Loved his dancing style. Seemed like he was an everyday guy. One of the best talents of his time.

Gene, Gene, Gene... now there was a man who could've swept me away... and I'm a lesbian... ha ha. My favorite movie with Gene is Summer Stock with Judy Garland. Truly amazing what this man could do on his feet. Great looking, great singing voice, I miss him. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Sadly, I have only seen Gene Kelly in one movie, and that was Singin' In The Rain, which is probably one of the best movies ever made. However, I did get a good feel for what kind of character Gene Kelly portrayed and I adore the guy! He can sing, dance, act, and look fantastic, all at the same time. Sometimes I wish that we still had truly talented actors like Gene Kelly to look up to.

No other actor can dance like him and make it look cool, and strangely masculine.

The greatest old movie actor, if you ask me, or at least my favorite. He can dance like a madman, sing like an angel and always stays in character. "American in Paris" must be his greatest film. An extraordinary performer.

Oh, how my heart just goes aflutter when I see my Gene. I am an absolute old movie nut. I've see pretty much every single movie that Gene Kelly was in and loved pretty much all of them. My second favorite(One of my favorite movies of all time period.) Was Singin in the Rain. He was amazing in the whole Broadway Melody segment, as is he in all his movies. This one especially though. My favorite Gene Kelly movie, though, was The Pirate with Judy Garland. In his big dance scene in this movie he is frolicking about in these little short shorts that make him just so delicious. He and Judy Garland have such chemistry, which makes their other movies Me and My Gal and Summer Stock very entertaining to watch. Both his acting and singing as well are notable, which is impressive considering that he studyed to be a dancer, not a singer or actor. There are not enough words to describe my love for this man. He's opened heaven's portal here on Earth for this poor mortal...(Singin in the Rain)

I love watching Gene Kelly dance. He was great in Singin' in the Rain, and An American in Paris. I loved the scene in Anchors Awheigh when he danced with Jerry the mouse. He had a wonderful imagination for dance routines. Tap dancing on roller skates, or on the rooftops. His dance routines with Cyd Charrise and Leslie Caron, etc. I have two left feet myself so it is a treat to watch some of these talented dancers.

Gene Kelly was a wonderful show biz combination; a dynamic dancer and handsome leading man who also had the ability to make you laugh. He was best known as one of the great song and dance men of his day and did some very memorable work in many films including “An American in Paris” and “Singin’ in the Rain”. I really enjoyed the popular documentary he hosted and narrated, “That’s Entertainment” (1974) which gave a very nice history of all the MGM musicals and the era when Kelly and many others in the film did their best work. The less popular sequel “That’s Entertainment, Part II” (1976) failed to capture the same magic of the first but was still interesting to fans of Kelly and the bygone era of the movie musical. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of all musicals, but I have always liked Gene Kelly. I can also remember that I was surprised - especially since I was still a teenager at the time “That’s Entertainment” was released - to find myself liking much more of the music and dance routines than I thought I would.
