a number of years ago i made eye contact with a striking woman in a bar. she had incredible grey eyes and long brown hair, and i was instantly attracted to her. i walked over and spoke to her and within minutes i regretted doing so because she was a complete airhead. i got the impression she was borderline retarded. she was physically beautiful, but she had no depth and was more than a little self-absorbed. lack of intelligence is something i can deal with, complete stupidity and the unwillingness or the lack of desire to learn is something i cannot deal with.

Nope--I like 'em smart. Dumb is exasperating. You know that spark when she gets it right away, without you having to explain? Yup, that's what I mean.

If we flip lack of intelligence to not an intellectual then I think that can be very attractive. Sometimes it's nice not to have to talk about stuff all the time. A person who doesn't overthink everything will probably have more time to devote to YOU.

As I have said before, I don't necassarily think it is a turn-on, but there is nothing wrong with a guy that isn't the brightest tool in the shed. Who wants some know-it-all trying to control you all the time? I am not saying all intelligent guys are like that, but with my personality, it seems I mesh better with guys who are more street smart than book smart. All people are equal regardless of their IQ in my opinion...we all bring a special quality to the world...

I noticed that some posters said that intelligence was an overrated quality in a mate. Well, I guess an unintelligent mate would be easier to manipulate and when sitting in bland silence got to be a bore you could always to cut straight to the chase. On a more serious note, however, an unintelligent but kind and loving mate would be far superior to a brainy but cold and unloving mate.
