As King, Phillip I was highly effective in expanding the boundaries of the French empire. Under Phillip, France acquired several new lands, largely due to Phillip's tactful military and diplomatic skills. Phillip brokered peace with England which allowed him to focus entirely on French expansion. Overall, Phillip I's reign was a time of great peace and expansion for the French empire.
