 | Redoedo (39) 04/04/2004 | Charles VII was highly instrumental in freeing France from the rule of the English and regaining some of France's lost territorial power. Largely due to the urging of Joan of Arc, Charles VII decided to declare himself king and free France from English rule. A tactful military leader, Charles VII organized a highly efficient army that drove the English out of most of France's territory. The latter years of Charles VII's reign were spent rebuilding France's infrastructure and economy, which had both been hit hard as a result of the conflict. By the time of Charles' death, France was back on it's feet, with the entire county experiencing moderate prosperity and feeling a sense of loyalty to the king. Through enormous decisiveness and boldness, Charles VII was able to unite the entire country and effectively free France from the reigns of the English.
