Ogden Nash possessed great wit, his poetry was often irregular and nonsensical with a twist of humor. He gained popularity in the early 30s when he joined the staff of The New Yorker, yet he never took himself to seriously and was quoted as saying, that the whole thing must have been an accident. His writing talents included childrens books, Custard and the Dragon, to writing skits for TV shows, to penning lyrics for a Broadway musical, One Touch of Venus. He enjoyed the use of parody, as shown in this short imitation of Joyce Kilmers Trees. I think that I shall never see A billboard lovely as a tree; Indeed, unless the billboards fall I'll never see a tree at all

Nash is my favorite poet...he makes me laugh and I love his choice of words.

This guys work reminds of the stuff you read in overemotional and maudlin greeting cards, only with a small twist of humor attached. Not really a poet in any true sense, more of a versifer or rhymesmith.

Nice to see Nash included on this list. Whoever the heck gave him a rating of ONE needs their sense of humor checked. Ogden Nash is my favorite comic poet. Not neccesarily laugh-out-loud funny, but wether writing nonsensical poems like "The Panther" or satire like "I Had No Idea It Was So Late", he always manages to make me chuckle.
