Way more engaging and fun than the whiny and humourless REM, they are a great hardworking band that still tour hard and emphasize the value of the group dynamic instead of the star power of a vocalist, guitar player of songwriter. Though solid record makers, they are best seen live.

Their first 3-4 albums are great.

Others like them more than I do, but I'll give them a a passing grade.

I do like the fact that they wrote a song "Escape Is At Hand For The Travellin' Man" as a tribute to Jim Ellison from one of my favorite bands - Material Issue.

The poor man's Canadian version of REM. Not overwhelmed by any means.

i love the tragically hip! But as an american i've never met anyone that even knows who they are which is a bummer.

Although their past few albums (Music @ Work and In Violet Light) weren't up to par with the Hip's past works, they were still better then the majority of albums put out today. The Hip's music seems to be meaningful to listen, something missing in today's music. 5 stars, if there were more, I would give them to the Hip.

Probably the greatest Canadian band ever. Their music is amazing, well put together, great lyrics, great rhythm and guitars. Gordon Downie is an amazing lyricist and some of his songs are absolutely brilliant. For someone unfamiliar with the Tragically Hip, i'd recommend Ahead By A Century, Wheat Kings, The Darkest One, It's A Good Life (If You Don't Weaken), Bobcaygeon, or Music @ Work as some of (not ALL of) the Hip's greatest work. try it, you might like it ;)
