wins over tyson and holyfield dont cut it.he was in a tough fight vs vitali klitschko then he retired.his best win is against rudduck but prime tyson and holyfield would have dusted his ass.he was good but not great.macall and rachman got ko's over him.good jab just not agressive enough.

People can say what they like about the timing of his career being convenient. But you cannot take away greatness because Tyson was imprisoned or Klitchko brothers came later! Lewis was tactically great with a solid punch and I believe that he has skills many on this list could only dream of.

he was by far and away better than anyone who he came up against right up to the end of his boxing career when he fought klitchko, he beat evander and then tyson with ease whu mike tyson is rated higher is beyond me.
goblinoflondon 11/17/2006
clearly one of the top five greatest if not the greatest. for some reason america refuses to see him as the great boxer he was. he beat the best there was...
liamccfc 09/02/2006
most of the people on here who are slaggin him off are prob all yanks cos lets face it all are british boxers always kicks ur arse
chucktown asassin 12/29/2005
the only two heavyweights throughout history i believe that can beat lewis is ali and probably foreman i believe lewis is the second best heavyweight in history i only believe ali is the only heavyweight better than him people just underrate him too much.
neil844 10/31/2005
the greatest heavyweight ever, perhaps not for his time but if he could fight a heavyweight from throughout history it would be no contest due to his size and strength. beat tyson "past his prime" but tyson was still younger than lewis. he retired cos there is no one around worth him fighting

HEY CHALKY STUD BAKER YOU LEWIS LOVER. LEWIS SUCKS BECAUSE HES A BUM. AAAARRRRRRRHHHHHHH
Chalky 06/18/2005
why on earth is he ranked last? I think on his best day, he could beat 90% of the fighters ranked above him. This guy was great and just because he wasn't the most flambuoyant, doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve more respect. Plus, every one that he lost to, he came back to beat!

sucks

One of the best over the past 10 years or so. But that's kind of like damning him with faint praise. I think Ali (in his prime and even in his Ali Boombaya days) definitely would beat him. Foreman (in 1972 form) would beat him. Sonny Liston matched up with him pretty well. Joe Louis would be giving up a lot of size, but probably could take him. In the final analysis, I would put him in the Top-10, but no higher than #9.

While he wasn't one of my personal favorites, I still think if they actually had a tournament-rather than basing fighters on the eras they fought in,best for best-Lewis would be the guy to beat. I would rather see one of the smaller heavyweights win such a tournament, but the big heavyweight monsters of today are better than they were-and Lewis has been the best of the big monsters. His chin has been criticized, but both Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCall, the guys who knocked him out are big punchers.

Cheat arrogent glass jaw bum who runs from everybody. Stole decision point from Holyfield, got knocked out by Rahman, Wouldve lost to Klitschko if the fight wasnt stoped and wouldve been killed by Tyson if they wouldve fought 14 years earliar

SUCKS BALLS
Lewis sucks 09/05/2004
A bum who has no heart or stamina. Ducks Byrd and Jones and fights guys who thay beat. Hes boring and is arrogent. Wouldve been creamed by Tyson if they fought back in the 80s. Tysons the greatest almost.
Crazy Buffolo 2000 09/03/2004
A pits, he runs from everybody. He stinks and cant talk properly. Tyson would have took his ass down if thay fought earliar.
BUMHOLE 09/02/2004

lennox lewis shouldnt be in the great category at all. he cant box, he cant fight, and he quit rather than give vitali klitchko a rematch. hes a fluke and a damn coward. wutever hes good at (if anything at all) previous heavy champs could do better.
louiethe20th 06/14/2004
Lennox deserves to be much higher! Unmatched size and one of the greatest jabs.
Mike tyson fan 06/14/2004
ran frm tyson in tyson's prime, Got beat by Rakhim, arrogant british .....
humberhigh 06/11/2004
A great boxer with many winning attributes. Know how to jab, uppercut, and hook. Fought technically using his size and natural abilities to win. But, if you got a good knock on that chin, out goes the ego and IT'S LIGHTS OUT!
doctorseven 04/19/2004
lennox lewis was work in progress who got better with time and didn't really shine until he hired emauel steward as his trainer. Had a weak chin and fought people when they were to old. Ducked riddick bowe in his prime and wasn't even considered good enough to fight mike tyson until 1998. But at least he won 3 world titles and fought and beat the older tyson and holyfield to aleast get ranked in with the top 20 best heavyweights of all time its not how you start sometimes its how you finish I give him credit!
kinkykinks 04/13/2004
he's a good boxer but not that great
Indio70 04/09/2004
A good Technical Boxer with great physical tributes. A gold medalist, and a questionable chin, that is if you can get to it. Squeezes in the top ten. The best British/Canadian/Jamacian of ALL-TIME. Makes the best of what he has and he was pretty good about knowing his limits. I do not think he will make a comeback, seems to be one the more intelligent boxers (in & out of the ring) to have come along despite the I.D. crisis.
