Depends on what poor hygiene is. If a guy just got done working hard and is sweating and a bit dirty/ greasy, that's actually sort of sexy. But if they continue to look that way, no matter where they go... that's a complete turn off!

if you stink and look dirty it would be a cold day in hell before id look that direction. im not talking about the guy thats worked hard all day and can get grubby from the work he does. im talking about the guy that if lucky he may shower once a month. thats gross

A nasty smell and poor oral hygiene are a definate turn-off, but I think greasy hair looks a lot better than dry hair. I remember watching the Ms. America pageant and the announcer said that most women don't wash their hair the day before the pageant because the greasiness give it more body or something. Just a thought.

that could be bad. it would be hard to get close to someone who had bad body odor. there are less expensive soaps and shampoos at the dollar stores. I would be willing to even help out if they could not afford this stuff the keep them selves and their clothes clean. As for those who just flat out refuse to bathe or clean their clothes it would be a definite turnoff.

This is beyond being a simple turn-off; it's nauseating. It's also unnessesary since staying clean and well-groomed is both inexpensive and easy. Anyone who can't manage something as uncomplicated as this has much deeper issues than lack of sexual attraction.

As I've written elsewhere, I have no desire to cuddle with a gal who smells like the local landfill.

Oh yeah, I find greasy hair, unbrushed teeth, and dirty clothes very sexy. It's really true love if you can see through that. It takes minimal effort to stay on top of your personal hygiene, if you don't do it for yourself, do it for those around you.

Smelly pits, unwashed hair, dirty clothes. Do yourself and society a favor and keep yourself clean. It's not that hard.

Poor Hygiene, how could you even talk to the person with a straight face when instincts say... RUN!!
kolby1973 04/09/2004
There really is no excuse for this, and it is a serious turn off. The only way I would say it was ok is if you met a person who couldn't afford soap or to go to the laundry mat and you happened to fall in love with this person, then it would be ok for a short time. But surely you would help this person out financially and buy them new clothes, soap and give them money for personal hygiene products. But I am sure that is rare and has never happened to me before, but you just never know...who knows if you are going to fall in love with someone who is living on the street? Or any other person who couldn't afford soap? You truly can't say...

Poor hygiene will not only ensure that we'll keep it platonic(to once again paraphrase that college chum of my mom's) but will also ensure that I will keep at least a mile's distance from this smelly character.

. . . yeah, when I'm talking about getting down & dirty, I don't mean it like THAT . . . . remember, showers are GOOD . . .

This hits the high points on my repulsion scale.
