No one has made progress. You can't blame it on Bush. Been at war for centuries.

It is almost like these two do not want peace. The issue will disappear in the grand scheme of things because I think these two warring factions will drive the rest of us mad one day and we will have to do something about it. Like other respondents, I don't think any current administration can do it without the will of these two peoples. UPDATE Sharon has indicated that he will withdraw settlements from the Gaza Strip by the end of next year, expecting the withdrawal to take place over three months during the summer. Up till now there has been nothing short of intransigeance, but it could be Sharon doesn't want to hurt Bush's chances of being re-elected in the upcoming presidential, and a move of this sort can only be viewed (even if indirectly) as potentially 'beneficial' to the current administration. As Arafat is also poorly, it makes Sharon look like the good guy, particularly as he sacked one of his Party members who voted no to the proposals. Many Likud voters are unhappy with the plans, as to them Sharon appears to have 'flip-flopped'. Time will show if he means business and that the move will go ahead (no backtracking) whatever President takes office. Then we'll all be happy there is at least a step forward towards resolution.

How in the world am I in agreement with Daccory? Nobody can stop this carnage but the knuckleheads that keep taking that eye for an eye concept too seriously.

I don't necessarily think should be his priority at this time. I'm not convinced anyone will solve this conflict anytime soon, anyway.

Come on now, Bush has made great Progress. Since taking office the Palestinians & Israelis are killing each other at a growing rate every day. Soon Israel & Palestine will be empty for us to move in.

jesus christ himself would find it almost impossible to broker peace between arabs and jews, more specifically the jews and the palestinians. their hatred of each other goes back thousands of years and is multi-generational.

Why do we have to make progress with isreal and so-called palestine anyway. Isreal is surrounded by a billion arabs if they want isreal's terrritory why dont they take it through war like other empires do. Isreal is a little dot on the map surrounded by ignorance and hate. Why dont they just crush isreal and take what they want???? Because they cannot.......

Not really Dubya's fault. He is a particularly bad candidate for brokering peace, but I don't think anybody could convince these two sides to live in harmony. Also, John Kerry has already expressed his full support for Israel, which is no different from Bush's stance. So Kerry won't make any progress either because, like Bush, he is starting with the assumption that Israel is 100% the victim and the Palestinians are 100% the aggressor.

While this is troubling, nobody makes progress with Israel and Palestine. Why should GWB be any different?
