What exactly is useful about the Artic and Antartica? Did we forget the recipe for ice?

I keep hearing more and more about him. I've seen the IMAX film, and it is one of the most courageous and awe-inspiring stories you'll ever hear of. I'd like to read the book, I think everyone else has.

If you’ve never read “Endurance,” the book about Ernest Shackleton’s unbelievable experience in Antarctica, you’re missing out on one of the greatest real-life adventure stories ever. In the summer of 1914, Shackleton and his crew set out to explore and cross Antarctica, but their ship was trapped in the ice, and they eventually had to abandon it. I don’t want to ruin the rest of the story, but their ability to survive in some of the most extreme conditions in the world will amaze you. Shackleton may not have ended up discovering anything, but his leadership during their Antarctic ordeal easily earns him a five-star rating.
