Oh please. Most amateur poetry is revolting. If someone tries to write me 'romantic' poetry I'll probably end up throwing up over them...

Would "Gurl ya a cutie but ya got no booty" do the trick?

What would it be like to be wooed by the romantic poet, to be his muse? The closest modern appoximation of this type I can come up with is Robert Smith of The Cure. I would definitely make him tissue off all that makeup before he kissed me. UPDATE: All this poeticizing would seem silly after awhile. I don't know how long I would be able to keep a straight face.

I am one! I like to express myself through my poetry. I have been writing them since I was a child, still do. It's a great way, perhaps one of the best, to release your emotions. Saying all of that, I normally don't share my poetry with others. They(poems) are holding my entire life uncovered from people.

Writers in general are a turn-on for me (alcoholic louts the exception). But their are three types of romantic poets to avoid: 1) the faux-poet who plagiarises other people's work. 2) The sappy poet who uses words like 'thou' and 'thee' in the 21ST(!!) century. And writes too much, with more syrup than pancakes. 3) The emo/teen angst poet. I never want to hear No-one understands me like you, your soul is so true again. ICK!

Depends on the poetry; cheesey Hallmark greeting card stuff need not apply.

The poet gets my vote, as long as HE is talented and has a unique and honest voice. Cheesey Romeos need not apply. I had a relationship with a writer, and I will never forget the mystery, intrigue, and excitement that writing to each other created.

No. Men who write romantic poetry had better be damned good at it. Or else they get a beating. Women who write romantic poetry had better not be girlie girls, or write girlie girl poetry. I need some meat in my poetry, not a bunch of crap about comparing thee to a summer's day and such. I'm way more into trauma and pain and damage. Those themes turn me on.

Poetry isn't my favorite thing to read, but I do like it and have a respect for it. However I wouldn't necessarily be turned on to a romantic poet. I want my guy to be honest, straightforward and himself. I want him to tell me exactly how he feels and not hide it behind fancy words. If my guy went around reciting poetry all the time, I'd probably gag.

I feel that poetry isn't just words. If it was just words it wouldn't be called poetry. Poetry is poetry when you leave a piece of your SOUL on the ink-laden page. Poetry is a collection of words that comes straight from the heart (or at least they should be). I'd find a girl with a good grasp of poetic verse very attractive, it'd be a little odd if she began to compose sonnets about me though.

I find that people who wax poetically excessively are really full of it; women should be careful about those types. Words don't say as much as actions and simply being there through thick and thin. There is a time and a place for sweet talk as well, girls always appreciate it, but not in excessive amounts. Be honest about your feelings and the rest will fall into place.
