I always have my phone off or on vibrate, so this never is a problem for me. However, it's a little annoying to hear La cucaracha in the middle of a moment of silence. Even worse, at my grandfather's funeral, a few of my uncles had their cell phones on them . . . and they answered it every time! They didn't even excuse themselves! It was their father's funeral. I wasn't all that close to my grandfather, but that was highly inappropriate. Accidentally leaving your cell on is excusable; leaving it on and answering calls is not.

I'm at a Christmas party for my company, with 500 employees in attendance. During the moment of silence suggested by the CEO, Jess's cell phone started going off. Her ring is In Da Club by 50 Cent. I tried to kick her purse to her and wound up kicking it further under the table. I thought it was funny but in the banquet hall there were no giggles or laughter; just silence and 50 Cent.

Easily preventable. Get Starfleet communicators instead!
