 | fitman (36) 10/24/2007 | It's certainly better heraldry than the Florida flag, but the racist intent is even more obvious.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 06/15/2005 | It's based on the Confederate flag--the white of the Stainless Banner, and the St. Andrew Cross from the battle flag.

 | bibliophile (10) 09/24/2004 | This is just like Florida's flag, only without the state seal imprinted in the middle.

 | Jimmie (2) 08/10/2004 | Many will deride the Alabama flag as looking too much like the Confederate battle flag. However from a heraldic point of view, St. Andrews Cross is a very pure simple emblem that also serves as the saltaire or national flag of Scotland and a key component of the Union Jack This is entirely appropriate since Alabama was once part f the British Empire and probably a majority of her citizens have at least some Scottish heritage. And for those of you who don't like it, the state line is always open and you can leave anytime you want!
