 | James76255 (17) 11/14/2007 | Another one that's simple and stands out because of it's simplicity. We don't get to see it often in the lower 48 but it's instantly recognizable. Very nice flag.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 07/27/2005 | This is certainly one of the top five state flags for simplicity, symbolism and style. The Big Dipper with its pointers indicating the North Star is evocative and unforgettable.

 | synapse (1) 02/23/2005 | Beautiful. What other symbol could there be for the northern-most state?

 | Mr.Political (18) 09/25/2004 | I have an idea! Why don't we all right our congressmen and have them change all of the state flags to something that looks like the biggest piece of junk ever made? Oh wait. It looks like Alaska has already beaten us to it.

 | bibliophile (10) 09/24/2004 | While the colors on this flag are not striking, the concept is clever and memorable. The seven smaller stars represent Ursa Major (Big Dipper) and the biggest star represents the North Star. This is one of the first state flags I learned as a child, and it was so easy to remember because of my interest in astronomy.
