During my lunchbreak at work, I enjoy thinking about the good times I have with my pets and family. So it does bring happy memories.

Although thinking deeply in todays world can be a source of agitation and sorrow- without thinking there is no chance to mend our problems.

I get lost in my imagination and thoughts on a day-to-day basis. If I lost that, I might as well just die.

When it comes to living, it seems nothing is more important then thinking. If nobody questioned the world around them, we would still all live under a monarchy and have no rights. Music, Television, and the media in general would all have strict censorships. Thinking is what we need to continue to run our society. Question authority

Remember to think, but don't forget to do.

The ability to think, yes. Without that you can't even know you're happy. However, I have had many jobs where you might be happier if you could shut the logic and reasoning portion of your brain off during the day. I guess the key here is think but don't always speak.

Hmm, it seems I've gotten myself into many a jam with my thinking. Sometimes I wish I couldn't think.

It depends on what you're thinking about or what you're trying to accomplish with your thinking. When I think about my ex-wife and ex-girlfriend I get pissed. When I think about my kids and their achievements, I'm happy.

When i think of things that I need to be happy, Thinking isn't something that comes up. Thinking just happens by itself. During the times that I've been most happy and most unhappy - I've never lost my ability to think. I guess the idea of not being able to think is not necessarily a happy thought - but if you couldn't think, you wouldn't know if you were happy or not. Or something like that.

Out of all the many things in this world the brain is the most precious and valued thing and in some instances the greatest weapon. Knowledge is power. Thinking gives you perspective and is not a surefire guarantee of happiness, but definitely a piece-of-mind.

While I appreciate that most of the items on this list are important to one degree or another I don't think most of them are ESSENTIAL to a happy life. You can live without many things if you have to.. and still be happy. Thinking is on an altogether different plane of need, however. Thinking is where everything else begins. We shape our lives by thought. I don't think it would be possible to be happy to any degree at all if we couldn't think.

You are what you think. All happiness and unhappiness starts right there with your thoughts. It's a subtle concept but an essential one.

I know several people that think so much it makes them paranoid and unhappy sometimes, but on the other hand to just sit back and actually have the time to think in peace is always happiness to me...

Independent thought is very rewarding. Thinking things through and coming to your own conclusions is necessary to happiness. Intellectual conformity is bad, ignorance is even worse. The brain needs to be exercised like any other muscle, work it out every once while, challenge assumptions.

I keep getting this fortune cookie message that reads Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. Honestly, I think it goes both ways--emotions bring out the best and worst of people, as do thoughts. They say ignorance is bliss, but then why are so many who are ignorant so damn unhappy?

Those who cannot think are doomed to despair. Fortunately they are also blessed with ignorance so they do not recognize their plight.
