Kind of surprised at the low rating for this company. JD Power has rated this company pretty highly over the last couple of years. Insurance is generally the kind of service in which no one really has anything to say unless they have a complaint. My limited dealings with Amica have been favorable, or as favorable as can be expected given that usually something bad has to happen before you need to deal with an insurance company. I'm not insured with Amica, but had to work with Amica on an accident involving one of its policyholders.

I had Amica car insurance for over 5 years without a claim for 3 cars. All of a sudden I get a renewal notice and they increased my insurance premium $1,230.00!!! Never had a late payment, never even had to call them. Everything was great then this. I am being punished for being a good driver. I was so pissed off. What a sham... Spoke with a manager who told me that there is nothing they can do and rates have increased for everyone regardless of their records. Made one call to another insurance agency and voila... I saved 1,500.00! Don't waste your time with these theives!

Terrible customer service. I've been with Amica for several years and never filed a claim. It got into an accident and my car was claimed a total loss. It's been a month now, I still have no car to drive and they are dragging their heels on settling the claim. They ignore your phone calls and don't care once it comes to paying you for something. Stay away from this company.

I have been with Amica for 6 years, and recently was hit by a kid losing control of his vehicle. Amica was awesome, quick to get the info and make sure all the bills were getting paid. My rates are comparable to my neighbors, but my service is much better. Even my attorney told me they are excellent to deal with.

I was a Amica policyholder for 10 years without a claim (Auto & Homeowners), and my auto rates were raised for late payments. The late payments occured over three years (one late payment each year) one was three days late, second was due to the Anthrax attack at my local PO (Trenton, NJ) and the third was 4 days late. I called and asked them to reconsider due to me being such a good customer. I was refused by a CSR, Manager and General Manager. I now have a new insurance company with better rates. Buyer beware!!!

This Company teases you by giving you cheap quotes, and then not insuring you if you had accidents in the last five years.

I thought I had the best insurance when I was with Progressive, since they were rapid to the scene after a fender bender, and cut a check on the spot. But, after moving to a different zip code, Progressive hiked my rates significantly. I did a quick web search, found insweb.com, who in turn proposed Amica. They offered the cheapest rates among all providers, though they are a little more selective (3 years of prior coverage under your belt, for instance). And JD Powers consistently rates them highest in the auto insurance industry. This I discovered after having already signed up with them. They are without a doubt an unheralded gem. Peace out!
