I think Mexico must have an illegal reciprocity agreement w/the US. Not interested. I've been close to the Mexico border a few times but never ventured there.

If I want to go to Mexico, I'll just fly to Los Angeles. . .

I know it's beautiful there, but if you ain't got no money, you might as well live at where you are right now.

Skippe-26 got it way wrong. Mexicans aren't ashamed of themselves as a people, they are ashamed of the ineffectiveness of their government. Mexican people that I have seen and worked with and speak with every day are extremely driven and hard working. What makes me a little nervous are those second and third generation variety who live in places like Los Angeles, who have forgotten the drive that their ancestors had, who seem lost and ugly after surrendering to materialism, who see personal development as that which the government should provide. Mexican people enhance U.S. culture much more than they hurt it. In fact, I think they are a more interesting and worthy neighbor than our friends up north, the Canadians. Mexicans may distrust us, but they don't hate us. Mexico's climate is more inviting, their food more unique and varied, their women are affectionate and loving, their language has more merit and practicality in the world (beyond English), their appreciation and love for family, their celebratory spirit, their humbleness, approachability, and so much of their music, songs of humanity and our relationships--if you learn to appreciate it, it's very expressive, and it'll touch your soul with ballads more moving than the Top-40 trash we're so accustomed to here. Many of us have shaped our opinion of other places through what we've seen in the media. But, travel is the key. You must go to see the real people, people who struggle, where they still have hearts and value simple things. Go to a country in Central or South America. Associate with the local people, hang out with them, and you will be changed forever.

Wouldn't it be funny if I got an apartment right next to the Frida Kahlo museum?
