Courtney Love's a wannabe, plain and simple. For anyone at all familiar with her influences, this (con)artist is completely derivative of others' work before her in a direct, rip-off kinda way, both musically and image-wise. Sadly, the malleable, easily impressed, uninformed youth of the grunge-generation bought into her gimmick unquestionably, never having a clue or genuine frame of reference that nearly everything she did or tried had been done years (and often decades) prior by a number of other female artists far more talented than she. Chief amongst them was none other than Frances Farmer, the volatile, irreverent, tempestuous actress/personality from the 1930's, whom Love and Cobain not-so-coincidently named their daughter after (Further, Cobain even penned a song after Farmer). The difference was, Frances Farmer was the real deal; she was a punk and a hardcore individualist decades before the public deemed it cool to be so; unlike Love, it wasn't some cheap, calculated gimmick or publicity stunt. Joan Jett, Suzi Quatro, Wendy O. Williams, Lydia Lunch, Exene Cervenka and Patti Smith are just a handful of artists who are no doubt less than impressed with Love's transparent infantile antics as they can certainly smell a fake and a rip-off artist a mile away*. Simply said, Love coopted their art/music/message, dumbed it down, and then cheaply spit it back out in an appropriated fashion to the teeming, hungry-for-anything, MTV-bred masses. *Too bad the same cannot be said for her uninformed fanbase.

The problem with that theory,kattz is that courtney, her WHOLE LIFE has been a human train wreck. Just read a little about her and then you will see that way before Kurt, she was always a lost soul.Whitney on the other hand was a decent human being that went from the good little christian girl to a crack addict bragging about how she's rich etc. Maybe it wasn't Bobby, maybe it was a combination of Bobby and Fame, either way she wasn't always like this.

Maybe she'll pull herself out of the gutter, but I doubt it. She keeps on going in and out of jail, and the justice system justs lets her over and over again. They are not doing anything for her but enabling her terrible behavior. And what's with the hissing! Any other judge would have locked her up for contempt of court. She is one of those celebrities more famous for being a jailbird rather than being an entertainer. I guess if she does OD, she'll be most remembered for that. I think it's only a matter of time.

This queen of worthless skanks deserves the unanimous vote as the biggest MODERN human train wreck. Courtney Love defines irresponsible and reprehensible behavior. She's outright disgusting and revolting. People ought to know better than to feel sorry for this no-good, vile lunatic WHO REPEATEDLY BLAMES OTHERS FOR HER OWN ACTIONS (which she always inflicts on herself)! She doesn't deserve any more coverage as it feeds into her ego to act even more impulsively (and repulsively).

Obscurity would be the best tonic for this human train wreck. I feel sorry for her in a way; her notoreity comes from acting foolishly in public. I guess that's just her own way of bringing attention to herself.

This woman has lost my sympathy. She brings all her problems on herself. At the rate she's going, I'd be surprised if she's alive a year or two from now.
