My mother comes from here. Once an elegant area with handsome houses for the hoy-palloy, this has become seedy, unkempt and has lost its Englishness completely. I would say it's now overrated but there is certainly a good antiques and restaurant scene worth visiting here. Personally, I am not a fan of the Mardi Gras Carnival going on here and avoid it.
