When you move into a neigborhood, it's customary to allow your new neighbors to make the first move. I suggest you confound custom by throwing a gala a week or two after you've moved in. This might make your new neighbors look at you a little askance;but they'll all come to your party at least to get a free meal and to see if you screw up. Greet your guests in a highly intoxicated state;either they'll be judgmental or pissed off because they are not having as much fun as you are. Invite some of your rowdier friends from the old neighborhood to liven up the party. Make sure the party stays lively till the wee hours of the morning, with cars burning rubber and tooting horns, and drunken women shrieking with laughter.
