Since the last shuffling of the RIA Politburo, Stalin's image has been taken down from the Home page, and regular denunciations of his memory are required by all leading reviewers.

How is this a hated topic? Historically, this monster should be studied as an important (for the wrong reasons) figure of the 20th century. Paranoid, fanatical, and a shocking ability to overlook the suffering of others, this zealot shouldn't be forgotten or despised as a topic

He is absolutely the greatests monster of all time. His terror knew no bounds and he had no pity and probably lacked much human emotion or feelings. Look at this relationship towards his relatives and children. Many observors conclude that Stalin makes Hitler into a second rate monster by comparison.

If people are still hot under the collar about Stalin, they have A LOT of catching up to do!

Possibly the most evil leader in the 20th century. Like Hitler, Idi Amin, Mugabe and other poor excuses for leaders, he is vicious, irrational and uncompromising. If you're his enemy, he'll try to kill you, regardless of where you are.

This man was pure evil, and talk about holding a grudge! He hunted down Leon Trotsky, who had fled to Mexico, and had that man assassinated. It wasn't enough for Stalin that his enemy was on the other side of the world. He wanted that man dead.

A murderous, megalomaniacal lunatic, who made a habit of killing, in the most painful way possible, anyone who threatened him in any way real or imaginary. Arguably worse than Hitler, he is the only other contender for the world record for the most murders ever committed, or ordered, by one human being. If we had more video footage of the 14,000,000 people he starved to death in the Ukraine, perhaps people wouldn't be so casual about uttering his name. (One star because I don't think there's anything particularly controversial about him here--he's universally reviled)
