The only thing more pointless than trying to remake an old movie of quality is attempting to rework a cult flick. The average movie-goer will almost certainly fail to understand why anyone would bother doing this and the cult fan base will simply laugh, gag and/or remain conspicuously absent from the theater. When all youve really got is quirkiness with a narrow audience appeal before investing the family nest egg, film producers need to ask themselves if they think they are up to the task of recapturing that hard to define element that made the original not always technically brilliant film succeed. About 99.9% of the time the answer will be no.

When I saw the original it was a letdown to all the hype.Not expecting much from the remake I was surprised at how effective it was.

Much better than original to me. Couldn't take that broad screeming through the whole '73 version!! Annoying....not frightening!!!
