The understatement and irony of the original made for a far better film.

I never saw the remake, but when it came out I sought out the original on DVD and gave it a spin.  I was expecting a whimsical period piece.  I was prepared for it to be badly dated in it's pre-60's cultural explosion perspective.  But was hoping it would at least be cool in its swingin' hipster swagger.  To my great disappointment I found it boring.  The only guy who brought any of the Rat Pack's fabled sense of fun to the proceedings was Sammy Davis Jr..  The rest of the crew seemed flat, probably the result of performing hung over and running on only a cat nap after a night in the casinos.

The original was so much better, probably because of the gravitas of the rat pack.

I gotta go with the original. The Rat Pack did it better.

Acting is superb. Story is excellent. Funny, charming, A+
