The movie is great, one of Altman's better movies. The TV series took itself far too seriously, particularly later in the series. At times it became painfully preachy.

One of those rare instances in which the TV show is better than the movie.

Can't give this a bad review.

I like the series, but it really had nothing to do with the movie. Two different universes.

TV show was one of the very best ever in its first three seasons with Henry Blake, Trapper John, Frank, Hot Lips, Radar, Hawkeye Klinger, etc. The show was a riot much like the movie was. Unfortunately, I felt the show dropped off after Wayne Rogers (Trapper) and especially McLean Stevenson (Henry) left. It was never as funny after that. The show then became a little more political behind Alan Alda and lost its edge a bit, especially the last few seasons after Frank left.

It was an excellent series, I really liked it much better than the movie, and that happens so rare when the tv show is better than the movie.

One of the better movie to tv. shows. well acted and written. The cast was perfect, and even when some of the actors left they could still come with some other good characters. i can see why it won a lot of emmys.
