Eventually lifted the Celtics from the post-Pitino mess, but ultimately no better than the parts he's given. The amazing transition from 2006-07 to 2007-08, where the team went from .293 to .805 and a championship, wasn't a coaching miracle -- it was all done in the GM's office, with the backing of the most storied franchise in NBA history. If he pulls off a miracle this year, I'll rethink this opinion.

This guy is great. He was able to combine three different players to work together. Not very many coaches can say that and he is going to win a chapionship with the Celtics

Doc Rivers is neither a great coach nor a bad coach. If he has a talented team, they'll win. But he also won't get any extra wins out of a less than average roster.

Ok lets get one thing straight, Doc Rivers had to take the celtics out of a lot of trouble that Patino put them in. This season with the amount of rookies and talent on that team, he has made it into a decent competing team. so those who say that doc rivers suck can kiss my a$$. he is going to turn this team into a power house and he deserves mad props -----The 16 year old

Doc is good! The Celts r on a 11-game winnin steak! He doesn't yell and makes good plans, and thats what a coach is all about!

I've been listening to Doc Rivers on ABC for NBA finals, and I'm very disappointed in Doc Rivers. It almost sickens me to hear his commentary. He is not impartial at all. 95% of the time, he's trying to shine the LA Lakers. Even when they play horrible and make horrendous mistakes, he tries to portray that as something positive. I've never heard a more impartial analyst than Doc Rivers. I don't think he'll be able to compete against LA Lakers when his team plays them, instead he'll be sittig on the bench day dreaming about LA Lakers and how it would feel to be on their bench. Doc Rivers should not have been a commentator for the NBA Finals. He has done a dis-service to NBA and those people watching the finals. -M
