I loved Lana, she was what a true star should be, always glamourous with the most sinuous walk that rivalled Marilyn. She also gave some very good performances in The Bad and The Beautiful and Madame X. I admired her for going on the stage late in her career, very brave considering she had learned to act only from making films.

Lana is lovely, but not especially talented. She was good enough in "Imitation of Life", but in other films her acting is downright painful at times.

What she may have lacked in range she made up for in sparkle. Did you ever notice how successful wardrobe seemed to be at matching her jewels to her eye color? Semi-cheesy, but I admit I actually thought that was kind of cool! And, even though her films and her roles in them were of the over dramatic soap opera school - what the heck, they were fun and entertaining which is more than you can say for many other things in the so-called entertainment category. No denying, Lana had the hair, the clothes, the figure and apparently the kind of troubled life that put dollar signs in the eyes of a tabloid publisher. In other words, she was everything you expect a movie star to be.

I don't recall too many of her movies but I did see Peyton Place and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I admit it. I adore Lana Turner. So she lacks the range of a Hepburn or Davis, but when Lana was onscreen, you couldn't take your eyes off of her. And when she DID nail a part, she could be incredible. See her act up a storm in Zeigfeld Girl, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Bad & the Beautiful, Peyton Place, and Imitation of Life.

I've only really seen her in Imitation Of Life and thought she was good in that. I'll come back and change my vote if I see something else that changes things.
