I have never voted a straight party ticket and probably never will. Truly, some in the parties have gone completely mad, snapping at each others heels like rabid dogs foaming at the mouth while spewing hateful obscenities at one another. I do not want to become jaded by the entire wretchedness of it, but enough is enough! If I make a statement in opposition to a Democrat, I am labeled a Bible thumping, holy rolling, Bush lover, if I make a response negative about a Republican, I am branded as a loud mouthed, first amendment basher, Michael Moore idolizer. While we will never always see eye to eye, we can at least behave like civilized adults.

There are some ideas that I agee with from each party; there are some ideas that, while I like the reasons, I don't like what their answer is; there are some ideas that I like their answers, but not the reason why. And there are some times I think all parties have gone freaking nuts and I'd make up my own mind instead. When it comes to voting, party affiliation does not matter to me, it's a matter of how confident I feel they can do the job. Most people are bound to lean towards one side or the other, but I would hope they would take a step back and evaluate each issue for themselves.

 | Wid71 (9) 05/12/2005 | This seems to be the only sane choice these days since either side of the spectrum seems unable to do a good job and do it honestly. I agree with Andrew. Independents can take the best from both sides, leave the worst, and add insightful ideas of their own.

Some left wing nuts wants to hold funerals for not just the trees but the bad apples, as well. If I owned an apple orchard, I'd want the caretakers to have ideals close to the middle. Competing perspectives can hold merit, but it's the independent thinker that can take the good ideas from both camps and strike the proper balance.
