 | pugwash01 (15) 08/20/2007 | How many times do I or others have to state this; Christianity is a way of life!! The term Religeon is a word to descibe multiple beliefs. Is Christianity the only true faith? YES. I don't honestly think there is much more to say than that.

 | Flick01 (71) 08/19/2007 | I answer this question not by looking at God or Jesus, but I look instead to what I consider evil or Satanic. I am not a fan of what is called death metal music but from what I have seen, those bands, and people who are of a similar mind, get upset only when Jesus is mentioned. It's possible because I am not well versed in this area I may have missed something along the way but from everything I have been able to find, those who embrace darkness do not seem to mock or ridicule any other faith. Satanic rituals, at least from what I have read, seem to be twisted versions of Christian rituals. The only example I can cite where I have even the slightest knowledge about is a band called Deicide which literally means "To kill God." The only faith they mock is the Christian faith with particular emphasis on Jesus. I have also read reviews of concerts given by bands that espouse Satanic principles and it seems they burn or destroy Bibles, crucifixes, and similar items which represent Christianity. In my opinion, these kind of actions and lifestyles seem to be a little too serious for me to write off as a phase teenagers are going through although I'm sure that for a certain percentage that is the case. There has to be a reason why Christianity is violently singled out by people who are favorable towards Satanic and / or evil philosophies and other faiths are ignored.

 | linkunlovr (1) 05/09/2007 | From the book The Crucifixion: The compassion and love that was Jesus comes through clearly
when we learn that we do not need to seek forgiveness, for we are not condemned; we do not need
to be saved, for we can never be lost; we do not need to seek eternal life, for that is what we are.
The truth is there is only One Being and we are all part of it.

 | SpartanPride (21) 03/13/2007 | Umm.. right, because there is going to be another crusade, and the Christians are going to strike down every non-christian in sight.
Sometimes I wonder what people's opinions would be like if they realized that was the past. Christianity is a pacifist religon, that's what I find is so stupid about some people reviews.
Even in world war 2, they stopped fighting at Christmas, a Christian-based holiday, they didn't go on brawling, like they did on other holidays, like the American Day of Indpendence, Canada Day, or any other holiday.
Also, if Ignatius actually came up with one valid point of how all religons are a myth, I would be impressed, because in our "enlightened age," I haven't seen one valid, logical reason to why it doesn't exist. Truthfully, I'll activily live and try to spread my beliefs, because no one deserves to go to Hell.

 | traderboy (25) 08/20/2005 | Is JIF the right brand of peanut butter? I can line up a million-odd SKIPPY lovers who'll say otherwise (the most comforting afterthought being that no one will end up dead or miserable for their choice). As this is a baited question, permit me to nibble along the logical periphery: ALL religions are poorly-realized amalgams of previously-held beliefs, designed to elicit a response of the baser emotions (fear and guilt, more often than not) common throughout humanity. Most people are feel-good theists, latching onto inherited guessworks as a way of charting their places in the omniverse (hey, whatever tugs at your bobber there, folks). Unfortunately, most religions insist upon a policy of absolutism (the reasons should be patently obvious), whereupon the more strident adherents busy themselves with the gossamer tasks of populous conversion. These machinations have proven to be both horrendously and insidiously futile, as the inescapable fidelity of reality (and those who cleave to its contentions) bided its time and gained footing as the preeminent arbiter of terrestrial prosperity. In summation, the paring down of the metaphysical is an exercise in vanity; stay the course of tangible discovery in the here and now.

 | eccleisiae militiae (3) 07/22/2005 | I guess it would be the '..right religion?'since no other belief acknowledges Adam and Eve therefore it can lay no claim to this post.Lets examine the word religionreligion comes from the latin word 'religare'meaning 'to bind'in the case of our first parents it illustrates the broken bond of God and man due to [his] transgression further more man needed to rebuild the bridge which was broken,redemption...needs a redeemer(Jesus)to rebind what once was,re-ligion so it is a false statement to say my 'religion'is....if you do not believe in christianity. It is the only belief that is completely endowed not to conflict with the faculty of reason insuring logical explanations which human nature demands! Also it has abolished slavery in all its countries, granting us freedom to excersise our free will(freedom of speech, freedom of choice)instead of living in fear of fanaticism, and extremists, although freedom in itselt is not an absolute or an absolute value as some would like to believe?there are conditions and regulations founded on christian ethics(the reason why so many agnostics are living today in these free christianized countries otherwise they would have been put to sleep!)which does not discriminate.Philosophy, physics, metaphysics and theology are all components of logic and understanding not even these can contradict the fundamentals of christianity which has been proven time and time again.I conclude there is no real argument in favour of the non-believers except squirmishes of frail scientific explanation which they cannot verify,is that commonsense I think not!that is trying to sensify without any rational thought;which can only be defined as un-reasonable!I am entitled to an opinion so I would like to excercise my right:when men cannot see that day is day and night is night but only see what they want to see then this dispute is thrown out of the vicinity of reason and logic and in to a new catagory SELFISH PRIDE!finally christianity can also be defended by historical, geographical, and archaeological proof to the dismay of non-believers.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 07/17/2005 | I guess so. . .because if you don't, Christians have a long, glorious history of killing those who don't toe the line. The practitioners are the most judgemental of those who do not practice Christianity. It is one of the greatest philosophical disagreements with their prophet.

 | texasyankee (21) 05/19/2005 | There are certain Christians out there that ruin Christianity for everyone else. I take for example, people I have run into during the course of my life. In my belief, when I give to the church, I do not believe in those little envelope things that prove to everyone in the church how much you have given. In the Bible, it says that one hand is not to know what the other has given. I had a pastor who actually came to me and demanded I use those envelopes.BS.
Another issue I have dealt with is people who say they're born again I had this lady who heard that I had spoken in tongues, and she was amazed by it, because she believes in it. So what she did was bring another lady to me, and together they both bombarded me asking me how long I pray, how much do I give to the church, how many times have I spoken in tongues, etc. When I told her it was between me and my God, she looked at me, whispered some things to the other woman and they both looked at me like I was the antichrist. This is the kind of thing that if a person is not strong in their own beliefs would drive them away from it. If I was as weak as they made me out to be, I would probably be Atheist by now, because of the way they treated me. People need to realize that inspiration can come in various forms. Not just Christianity.
EDIT: If anyone wishes to change someone, words don't do it, it's usually actions. Are you saying then that my sweet heart of a sister-in-law, who is buddhist, and raise buddhist, who if anyone met her would be inspired to be just like her because of her loving ways is going to hell? I don't believe it.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 05/19/2005 | For a start, Christianity isn't a religion so people are right when they say that no religion is right! A religion is simply a whole series of rules that you have to follow. It is do this and do that and some may even call it a life style. But true Christianity isn't even a life style. It is a relationship - with God. God is a real Person (not human though) and the way to become a Christian is not by works or a formula, it is simply saying to Jesus that you want to have a relationship with Him that is so serious, that you give what is rightfully His, your life and your heart. Once you've done that, you get to know Jesus better and better every day. Jesus is like the love of a Christian's life - you love Him more and more each day. That is what the perfect marriage is like. If we were to get saved by grace PLUS works, then Christianity would devolve from a relationship to a religion. Christian simply means follower of Christ. There are lots of reasons why Christianity really is right. I was inspired by Flick01's comments because I've observed the same things myself. I've met and heard of people who don't seem to mind if you are a Buddhist or even a Satanist, but as soon as you mention the name of Jesus, they can actually become violent. I once had this teacher who was like that in high school. Even if you said Jesus in vain, he would suddenly be silent, stand up and almost yell with a really aggressive tone, 'Don't you EVER say that Name again.' It was almost as if he was afraid. It is funny how dark forces hate the name of Jesus. You can talk about any religion, but not Christianity. I also know that Jesus is the truth from what I've heard and observed. I have heard of and even seen supernatural things happen to people. I've heard of hardened criminals who would spit at any other religion, but they have some experience which makes them give their life to Jesus. As soon as they do, it is amazing. They become a new person. People around them notice that they have changed and their presence feels different. It is the awesome change Jesus makes in people's lives which is so amazing. But I've never seen any other religion change someone so dramatically (for the good.) If you want to use the argument that the Bible is thousands of years old to discredit Christ, then you may as well bludge in history class. Because all the contents in your history books are thousands of years old too. You have proven Flick01's point. It's funny how people will rely on carbon dating as reliable and think of these 'million' year old bones as being accurate sources of fact, but they will discredit something that is only a few thousand years old, just because it is related to Christ. You can't disregard something just because it is old. If you were to use that logic, then don't trust any historical fact and all the scholars are just wasting their time.

 | swanhole (0) 04/12/2005 | Tough to say since there are about millions of versions of Christianity. But I guess I'd have to say no cuz I have a tough time putting faith in a book thousands of years old, which we can not for certain say who wrote it. Maybe I am going to hell, because I demand real evidence and not merely the rantings of those who claim to know the truth. I have this for christians, you stop using government to force me to play by your christian rules and I'll ignore and leave you all alone to enjoy the glory of heaven with your partners in mysticism.

 | Donovan (130) 02/26/2005 | UPDATED...Christianity is the right religion, I know many will disagree with me on this but if you believe the Bible as I do then it is pretty clear. The following is a quote from a e-mail devotion I received. People do not want to hear there is only one way
to heaven. That sounds too dogmatic and exclusive to them.
However, the Bible teaches plainly that Jesus is the only
way to heaven.
You may say, That sounds like discrimination to me. If we
do not accept God's way of salvation, this is discrimination
against God. God's character demands that all sin be paid
by Jesus' death on the cross. He must do this because this
is the only way He can be true to His character and yet
accept us into His heaven. If we reject this, we
discriminate against Him!

 | Djahuti (54) 02/13/2005 | Maybe for some people, but it is not the ONLY way to become closer to the Divine. The proof is in the pudding-It does not matter WHAT you profess belief in:If you are good others, and kind, and honest and capable of love and forgivenness, and reach out to those less fortunate than you ,then whatever higher power exists can work through you and you will have a reward after leaving this plane (and likely be much happier while still here). If you are greedy and selfish and mean and lie and cheat and steal and are abusive then it is going to come back to you either in this life or in the afterlife.

 | BirdEgal202 (7) 02/02/2005 | People have asked this about every religion, the simple question of who's right has caused enourmous bloodshed.
Because there are so many religions, most saying that whoever is not a fallower will be eternally damned, the chances of picking the right religion are extremely slim so according to this rule of thumb, most of us will end up in a pit of fire and brimstone anyway.

 | Mechanical (0) 07/05/2004 | I do not believe there are ANY Gods. I love heavy metal, including Satanic black metal {And I'm a Satanist}, but I'm not particularly offended by Jesus or the teaching of Christianity. What offends me are the humans that want to shove their Saviour down my throat. I'm happy with myself, I love myself and my life; and I'm doing fine without God.
Jesus was a great human, but I don't believe in his divinity. I have NO PROBLEMS with him. I DO have problems with the Fundies that aren't happy to believe that they're going to heaven.
I will say this, however: Christianity is a very destructive religion. As soon as the Roman Empire became Christianized, millions of pagans were killed, millions of Arabs and Jews, died in the Crusades, thousands of people died in the Inquisition, etc. I don't have a problem with it per se, but I do believe humanity would be better off without it.
The reason why Christianity is singled out {in this nation; it isn't in non-Christian nations} is not because some devil in red spandex is pulling the strings; instead, it is a logical rebellion against a religion that tries to shove itself down the collective throat of the masses. THAT, my friends, is a sin.
Why is it that Christians have no problem completely trashing non-Christians, but declare anybody that criticizes their religion to be Satanic and of the devil?
Jesus was a good man. Most Fundies are not. That, my friends, is my opinion.
EDIT: To Donovan- Satanists do not worship the devil; nor do we believe in him any more than your God. We simply view the Satan of the Bible as someone to be held in respect; a creature of self-reliance, power, and will.

 | Poison Tongue (0) 06/09/2004 | This is in theory a good question, but in truth I think that more often than not it is a question used to create tension between religions. The truth is that the right religion is this; treat all life with kindness and respect to the best of your ability(this includes yourself); accept that all people are created as equalls and are worthy of this love and respect; be thankful for all that you have been gifted with; be humble enough to accept that there is a greater power than us at work in our lives and we will one day have to account for our actions here on earth, but there is salvation for those who want it. Any religion that follows these principals is the right religion. Each religion that follows these principals has been touched by God in some way, and it is their expression of his involvement in their life. Why would God not come to all the peoples of the earth in some way? Do we really expect all peoples to interpret Him in the exact same way? Why is there a right and wrong, why is can we not see the good and bad in all religions? Because we are not perfect.

 | Tball (0) 05/20/2004 | What do you think of this analogy:
A father says to his son, Hey, little guy, I love you and I want you to live the right way. You must listen to my every order and if you question me, I may have an answer for you and I may not. You may not understand my big plan for you, but just understand that I know what's best for you. If you don't follow my every instruction, it is out of love for you that I will take you to the kitchen, set the oven to 420 degrees put you in it and slow roast you where you will experience indescribable pain for eternity. Please know that I threaten you in this manner for your sake, and to give you a choice! Now, go watch cartoons. Group hug!

 | NumenMODOK (0) 05/12/2004 | No religion is right in my opinion. Religions start wars, famine, murders, all that. and most of all the book you base your beliefs on is grossly innacurate. for the most part, the new testament is the same story told from diofferent viewpoints. those view points clah so obvouisly that i cant even fathon how you can believe it. they cant even agree on what jesus did after certain events; they have him going different way at the same time. go to www.skepticannotatedbible.com it should clear some stuff up. there are approx. 1119 contradictions in the bible. that is reason enough not to believe. but for the most part, all religions are false to me. but if i had to categorize myself into one. it is Deisim, the belife that God, not being either male nor female, made the world and then let it run on its own. no Jesus as the son of god, no hell r revelation. thats what i believe. and im sorry you need the promise of eternal damnation in a firey hell to do what you already know is right. i dont.

 | Cooldudegk (0) 05/07/2004 | Maybe I was being a bit immature to say that Jesus was a retard, which he surely was not. I believe Christianity is not the correct religion. Which do you believe, that 3 million people heard God speak to them or that one man supposedly heard God speak to him? How can you follow a religion that conflicts with you moral beliefs? In christianity if I am not mistaken you can lie, cheat, kill, commit sins etc... all your life but if you beleive in Jesus you going to heaven. Someone asked a christian priest if Hitler acknowldeged Jesus would he go to heaven and be relieved of all his sins. The prist said YES. How can that be possible a man who killed MILLIONS of innocent people can just believe in Jesus and he will be ok. I cannot believe something so utterly unintelligent.

 | StanUzbeck (14) 05/06/2004 | No, but there is no 'right' religion. It may be right for certain people, who find more meaning in it than, say, Islam or Buddhism. If it makes you a better person than it is probably right for you. If it provides comfort to you in times of crisis, then it is probably right for you. But there is no religion or belief that is absolutely right for everyone all the time.
