Very solid and draws influences from a number of places, including but not exclusive to the blues.

I haven't heard as much as I would like, but what I have heard has been good. Hardly a purist, Mahal instead draws together innumerable forms of African American styles and musical periods, though the blues is usually at the root of what this talented performer does.

Simply great.

Great! Saw him in person once at a rock festival and he was my favorite of all the performers. Like the earliest recordings best.

Taj Mahal is a master of virtually every style of blues, from rural to uptown and in between...he's equally adept at folk, jazz, calypso, rock, and various West African styles. He draws from them all to create a musical tapestry that's both earthy and electrifying...heartfelt and hard to resist. He is a multi-instrumentalist on acoustic guitar, slide, National Steel, banjo, fife, harmonicas...including chromatic and vocals. Songs he is famous for include "Good Morning Miss Brown", "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Steal My Jellyroll", "Goin' Up to the Country,Paint My Mailbox Blue", "She Caught the Katy,Left Me a Mule to Ride","Bacon Fat" and "Fishing Blues". An American Legend!
