Now let's see... you have an overweight kid, a bully, a brain, an African American child, an awkward kid with freckles (among many types of kids making up the members of Our Gang). It didn't seem to be complete without a cute little leading lady. One of the most popular of these was Darla Hood. Darla showed signs of being quite a singer, with a strong, bold voice, considering her young age (and went on to record a few pop records as a woman in the late '50s and early '60s). When it came to acting, she was above average, but not the greatest. Nevertheless, she did contribute to Our Gang, and was one of the best loved characters. And so adorable, to boot!
