I've only seen her in a few things ("Laura" was probably her most famous film, and it was, while certainly enjoyable and entertaining, a flawed masterpiece at best), and she was without question a more than adequate actress, at the very least, but her real claim to fame was the fact that she was breathtakingly, awe-inspiringly beautiful, and it was that exquisite beauty that immortalized her, not the films she appeared in. More fascinating than any movie, however, is her autobiography, in which she details with astonishing honesty, candor and intelligence her lifelong battle with mental illness, which she was able to courageously overcome, as well as the history of her dysfunctional family. Her life story should be an inspiration to all.

Wonderful actress, beautiful, talented, very underrated. I wish they would show more movies from her era on AMC and other channels, I'm tired of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Very excellent as well as Laura with Dana Andrews. Cute.

If only women nowadays could be as classy as Gene Tierney . Beautiful and classy. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir remains one of my all time favorite movies.

A stunning brunette, and a troubled woman in real life, Gene Tierney is best remembered for 'Laura,' 1944, and received her only Oscar nomination for 'Leave Her to Heaven,' 1945. But 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir,' 1947, is perhaps her best screen performance. Too often cast as socialites and cold beauties, her Lucy Muir is warm and tender and very appealing.

Perhaps the most captivating woman in film history, Gene Tierney may have been a bit crazy, but she was extremely talented and stunningly beautiful. I was completely captured from the very fist time I saw her in Leave Her To Heaven. So captured, in fact, that my first book(Holy Bull: hymns from an Ambien Summer) contained a poem(a dream in black & white) based on her character in that movie. I didn't realize until a year or so later that the movie was in technicolor; the motel TV was a black & white. She also shines in the noir/mystery classic LAURA. You might also have seen her in The Razor's Edge. She was acting all through the 40's, 50's & 60's. Gene Tierney was an incredibly gifted and interesting woman. Go rent or buy(it's that good!) Leave Her To Heaven and I think you'll come to the same conclusion I have about this raven-haired beauty.
