In the massive cube-farm that was my previous place of employment, the sounds of nail clipping would drift in my direction and turn my stomach weekly, as one of my colleagues decided to touch up on his personal grooming.

There are some things best done in the privacy of your own home, locked in a bathroom, and this is one of them. The very sound of it in such a public place made me cringe as I imagined nail-clippings flying all over the infrequently vacuumed carpet.

I see this more often than what I would like to...The other day I was paying my groceries and the woman behind the counter was doing it, she took her time to stop (this is with me in front of her ready t check out and feeling disgusted...) and then she handled my stuff into the bag...nice!

Obviously bad form but is it really a major societal problem?  I don't know that I've ever seen any one do it. You don't happen to work at an esthetician spa, do you?

This isn't one of the worst habits to have but it is something that I can't understand people doing. I worked in a cubicle style office area and could here a coworker of mine clipping his nails every so often. I understand the need for personal hygiene, but some things should be done at home.

not sure if i have ever seen that. would be awful gross though. especially in a restaurant or something. lucky that even the most impolite people know not to do this.

Particularly good if the clipper carefully stores the nail pieces in a special box.....

Disgusting - how can anyone do this?  The sound of the clipping also drives me nuts.

Nail clipping has it's place - in the bathroom. Nothing's worse than going to have a seat on your couch and finding toenails poking your shorts. And they aren't even your toenails.

This is the most disgusting habit ever, i was once in KFC and the guy working in there was clipping his toenails, i'll know never to go near the place again.

God, I hate it when people do this. Why don't they do it in their own home or go to a manicurist?

Ew this habit is so gross. I have no respect whatsoever for people who clip their nails in public. Not only is it not sanitary, it's just yucky.

it is probably just me, but the sound of nail clippers makes irritates the hell out of me. it literally makes the hair on my neck stand up.

I think this is only a bad habit if you are doing it inside an establishment of any kind. If you are in the restroom of the establishment that is fine. I also feel it is ok if you are in a nail salon, obviously and it is also fine if you are outside in public.
