05/14/2004 | As if!!! When I used to work as a Lab Tech for a major pharmaceutical company I had very poorly defined goals, and my immediate supervisor was only able to spend about 20 minutes per week with me discussing my projects. So basically I had no idea what was expected of me or what I should be focusing on at any time. Rather than giving myself ulcers worrying about these things, I became an expert at appearing busy while accomplishing very little. Of course, I felt useless and fearful of being found out so I quit that job and actually changed careers. Yes I goofed off, but it wasn't entirely by choice. It was because I really had no clue what I was supposed to be doing at any time. The corporate atmosphere definitely strangles the life out of people.

05/14/2004 | Honestly, is there anyone who, on one level or another, doesn't goof off at work? I'm sure there are a lot of people who will claim that they don't but my theory is that everyone, from Gary Payton to George W. Bush goofs off at work on a daily basis.
