Third time lucky? I don't think so.

The capitol of the U.S. does not have a baseball team! You know how outrageous that is? Washington was one of the original cities that had a baseball team. Hopefully it will once again have a team.

They've had two shots at holding onto major league franchises and failed both times. Why should this metro area be given a third chance? Merely because Cal Ripkin is more or less from the area? What does major league baseball owe to him? If anything, he owes plenty to the game, so maybe he should stow it already concerning his enduring ego trip. Furthermore, the Washington DC area does not have the broad economic demographics necessary to support a major league team. As the Philadelphia and Baltimore metro areas are so close, this part of the country is over-saturated already with baseball. It's obvious that a third team cannot be supported as the potential fan base just isn't there. Finally, who's going to pay for a new ballpark? The Washington DC area is fairly blighted economically, and taxpayer $$$ could be put to dozens of purposes much more deserving than building an edifice for millionaires to play in.

Not gonna happen, not now, not ever. Washington isn't the city it was when the Senators were last there, mid-60's. Orioles & Phillies are too close and where would the stadium go? Pin it on the taxpayers? Great idea. They have such healthy surpluses now and, of course, no tourism to speak of. And, jgls, whoa! America's team to Baghdad? Kabul? You'll be hanging on to those five stars for a long time. See you in October.

It would be a lot of fun to have a team in DC, but I don't think it will work out. To get the team, DC's Mayor Williams is promising a taxpayer supported stadium. However the residents of DC do not support this. It would cost them too much, and it would probably be used by wealthy fans from Maryland and Virginia, who didn't pay taxes to build the stadium, but will patronize, while the less fortunate residents of DC are there to foot the bill.

i would love to see a baseball team in the nation's capitol again, but i'm not sure if they deserve the expos. i would however give 5 stars if they moved the yankees to baghdad or kabul.
