That's an okay thought. After all, it is in the U.S. and is an area where baseball is highly praised.

Major league franchises in foreign countries has proven to be a very iffy proposition thus far, so why attempt to enliven a suspect trend? The San Juan population doesn't have the economic viability to support a major league team, nor does it have a media market large enough to pick up the financial slack. A domed stadium would have to be built as players could not be expected to perform in the wilting heat of Puerto Rico in July and August. Who's going to ante up hundreds of millions for this purpose? Finally, it would ultimately prove to be a hassle to transport players, etc. in and out of a foreign, off-shore country every few days. If any foreign city should be considered, it should be Mexico City, for various and obvious reasons.

Why not? Half of MLB players these days are Hispanics from the Caribbean, and the few exhibition and regular season games the Expos have played there have been sellouts. MLB should be worried about a fan base, and I think the stadium would be reliably filled if the team moved to San Juan.
