Irish git: Now you are just being annoying. The novels are terrific pieces of intricate plot work, and no one forcing you to read them.

I really like the new Miss Marple series. She is mild-mannered, but not as witty as Helen Hayes. Miss Marple has such a unique way of gathering the clues, interplay of characters, and solving the mysteries.

A little slow moving... Joan Hickson is the best of all the Marples in my opinion. Unlike Angela Landsbury's Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote), Marple is not a main player in many scenes. She remains on the perifery, snooping around, listening and sorting things out, until it is time to get everyone together and name the culprit.

Unlike the Poirot series, which is worse if possible than the novels they are based on, this is actually not bad. Not great either, mind you, but not without its charm, mostly due to a strong performance in the title role.
