I saw one episode and did not particularly like the Lynley character as portrayed... he's an urbane "wuss". His female counterpart had more spunk. I also thought the episode moved too slowly... yawn city! Perhaps I'll give this series another chance at a later date.Comment added 1 year later: I am revising my rating upward from a "3" to a *4". I have watched several more episodes and enjoyed them... enough to rent the remaining episodes that have been issued.

I thought it was terrific. Not only does this series have great mysteries but the location shots are outstanding.

Inspector Lynley and Havers are great together as an investigative team. Havers down to earth style brings out the best in Lynley's down to earth personality. however, when he is on his own, he seems to make many error in professional judgement as his life becomes more complicated. The mysteries that they solve are somewhat realistic. The plot action is great to watch and fun to solve. The two complement each other as they solve the case.

I admit it took me a while to get into Lynley, as I had to get familiar with the main characters personalites; and I'm happy to say that they're both addicting. I love their relationship; he, a suave-yet vulnerable PI; she, a working-class-yet-intelligent woman who speaks her mind; thus, they both need each other. My favorite episode was when he split up with his wife. Brilliant!
