 | helmut (16) 02/10/2005 | UPDATE: I, for one have never approved of the situation in Iraq. I do not agree 100% with our presidents decisions and I have critisized him on this site for ignoring the threat of North Korea, which I believe to be bigger than Hussein ever was. I also sympathize with the situation, I understand that our military is stretched thin and I do not propose a draft. This is exactly the trouble I feared when we went into iraq for less than crucial reasons. What happens when you have 200,000 in Iraq fighting a war that you have tried to defend against critics on both sides, and something REALLY bad happens. Iraq might or might not have had WMD's but N. Korea HAS nuclear weapons and is giving a veiled threat of using them. It's not a good situation any way around, but I do not agree with doing nothing. ORIGINAL COMMENT: This is what I say. Go in at night with some steath bombers and shock and awe their facilities. We know where they are and they pose a direct threat to the national security of our country. Not just ours, but Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, and anybody else that might tick this guy off. We don't have to anounce it, it could be completely covert. The degree of deception that goes along with secrecy would pale in comparison to the terrible things this guy has done to his own people.

 | Skizero (15) 02/10/2005 | i know this isn't even worth commenting on. and might i add it is inane lists like this one that causes the pointless left and right bickering on here. but here's the thing: you can't just go into some country and blow up their facilities. i know Jerry Bruckheimer movies say otherwise (if not Bruckheimer insert jingoistic filmmaker here)but in the real world this isn't a possibility. also if you blow up the facilities what does that say for the supposed nukes already out there. do you bomb and say: ok well maybe they'll attack or do you bomb and let North Korea kill millions in Japan, South Korea or elsewhere as retaliation. with our military stretched then handling the self-created situation in Iraq, the only solution w/North Korea appears to be a diplomatic one. even Bush realizes this considering the softening of his commentary toward North Korea. Saddaam might've been a nut, but he was a neutralized one w/no range of power beyond the subjugation of his own people. this guy in North Korea could cause serious damage. it's time to get our heads out of the proverbial action film hero sequence and get some diplomacy at work.
