Republicans know, btw, that Democrats don't like Osama and Saddam any more than they do. But they know that in this heated atmosphere (generated by them anyway), the general 30-second soundbyte American public is going to accept their "talking points": hence, any American who disagrees with the Bush/Rove/Cheney agenda is a supporter of Osama and Saddam. Oh yeah, and they're fans of North Korea's "Lil" Kim too.
If anything, the Republican party is doing its best to turn our nation into a totalitarian nation. We might as well be Red China (as opposed to red state US). We might as well be the Taliban: keep those women at home! And so on. If the code word of past Republicans was the dreaded "commie," it's now "terrorist." In other words, the witchhunt hasn't changed, it's only the rhetoric. Hence, any teacher according to the Secretary of Education (irony itself) who sees flaws in No Child Left Behind is a "terrorist." Any supporter of pro-choice is again a "terrorist." The way "terrorist" is being used by the Repug party has caused it to lose all meaning whatsover and ultimately undermines our nation's efforts to combat terrorism.
