 | oscargamblesfro (76) 11/08/2006 | I'm not sure what this is actually supposed to mean, but I get the implications of 'too cozy." If you don't like gays and lesbians, because of your religious beliefs then ignore them, there is nothing in the Constitution that says you automatically have to approve of them. Personally, I don't care what someone does- within reason- so long as they don't harm anyone else in the process. I don't particularly care what someone does or whether they're gay, few things are so absurd in this country as the explosion of narcing, self- righteousness, pontificating, and exclusionary tactics that increasingly go on concerning these matters. As for 'minorities'- what gets me about the implication of this particular list is that it assumes that 'minorities,' a ridiculous term in a way because you can take any person on the planet and present him or her as a minority in some way or other, are all lockstep and somehow vary less than white people, esp. mainstream middle to upper class white people. There are members of certain groups who are painted one way or the other that are actually very conservative- or liberal- or whatever, and human beings really do vary so much individually. Another thing that is annoying about this topic and others of its ilk is that a great many people, not all, but a great many, seemingly enjoy spouting generalizations, criticisms, and denouncements about races and so on from the safety of the internet, but would probably pee their pants in 3 seconds flat if they had to explain away their racist and ludicrous beliefs to the subjects of their enlightening and profound commentary in person. Even worse are those who claim to condescendingly have all the answers. In a way, they're worse than the no holds barred bigots. I have yet to meet a human being without serious flaws in logic, present company included. Hey, we're all guilty of some degree of erroneous beliefs and hypocrisy, but at least some of us admit it.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 11/05/2006 | Very cozy and I think its cost them votes with people who don't indentify wtih the issues that these groups of people have. Its really contributed to the idea that the Democratic Party is a party of the fringe and not the mainstream, whether they really are that way or not.

 | doobiesNhof (21) 11/05/2006 | Terrible analogy. I'm positive that there are more Republicans that are anti-gay, lesbian and minority!!! (sarcasm)

 | Djahuti (54) 11/05/2006 | A much better thing in my mind than being "cozy" with corrupt corporations who gouge the public (think big oil,agri-business,strip mining, pharmaceutical robbers, etc.)

 | ThatOnePerson (4) 07/29/2005 | i think that the main reason that they like gays and lesbians when it comes to marrage is because some of their supporters and funders like planned parenthood, who make money from abortion, want to make marrage more about a couple that is only togeter for marrage benifits, not raising a family like traditional marrages used to and treating children as a less important part of marrage thus causing more abotions and getting democrats more $$$$$$$.

 | Inmyopinion (10) 07/04/2005 | Not sure what this is implying. Yes, democrats are much more tolerant of minorities and homosexuals than many republicans are. Too cozy? That sounds dirty.

 | Vudija (92) 04/28/2005 | I'm with metal on this one. It's called tolerance, anyone with any sense of humanity would understand this. It's not our faults that people (in general) feel the need to belittle/judge those that are different.

 | traderboy (25) 03/17/2005 | Somebody'd better cozy up to these folks (y'know....Americans) before they're legislated back into the Dark Ages by the regressives. Democrats give a 6.2 (on a scale where a 1 equates to a public burning and a 10 denotes true peace and tolerance) on the effortometer, but it'll take a TRUE Progressive Party (helmed by technocrats of every stripe) to make the real strides.

 | Enkidu (37) 03/15/2005 | Not quite sure how to rate (true for me, true for all Democrats?) but I'm as cozy with gays and lesbians as is consistent with being straight, so hey, it's true for me. Minorities--I've always been happiest in places with lots of ethnic diversity, i.e. big big cities.

 | James76255 (17) 02/27/2005 | It's not about them getting to cozy, it's about them pandering for their votes, then making half-ass attempts to deliver what they promise. In a few but important cases, it's about what they do deliver after convincing people something is in their best interest when it's not.
