More than who? The Republicans? I think the liberal Democrats want programs that will support their agenda. Personally I believe legitimate social programs are desired by both parties.

Through most of these, I've had to say (or at least think), not ALL Democrats, but.... Name a Democrat that doesn't have at least one more social program on his/her agenda, or will have if one comes up that sounds just grand.

I will add, for the bleeding hearts, that most people don't have a problem with some assistance programs. It becomes a problem when it gets to a point of being nothing but a handout and people just sit on their butt and wait for the federal government to do something rather than at least try on their own.

Just when you ask yourself, is there room or money for more social programs? Yes, we need more. But are there any more groups of people that need additional privileges above the average white man? No, but let's create a new class.

That's ludicrous. Then maybe we should group ALL Republicans as being against any social programs? (after all turn about is fair play!)

Without a doubt. They see federal government as a means for promoting social good. Charity, health care, child-rearing ... they envision the government playing a considerable role of all of these facets/aspects of society/life. A larger federal government does not bother them. A larger military does.
