OK, In Jasons defense of this "bad" review. I own the shop, I was there when this guy came in. Nice enough fellow, although awefully picky. I witnessed Jason re-draw this simple ass maple leaf idea over 5-6 times with no avail! This guy just wanted his crappy leaf to look like crap, and Jason was just doing his best to help this guy out. Its hard to put your name on a crappy tatto, because its a representaion of your work thats viewed by the public.Sometimes clients do not want to see ,or hear what the truth is. And the truth is, we've been in this business along time (20 years myself) and usually what we say or do in a situation as thus is in the best interest of the client. The client isn't always right, believe me, especially in this case. Jason took a crap idea and beautified it, this guy didn't want it, wwaawaaaawaaa on the interenet, so the story goes. In Jays defense again, dood just walks out, no excuse , no opologies. Whatever. So next time you want your stupid ass turd tattoo idea polished, go to someone less capable of beautifying your shit idea. All my guys are 100%, top notch, world traveled, award winning, published artists! Just check for yourselves.

Got a problem? go Fu*k yourself , I'll watch.

While I have not had the pleasure of being tattooed by Jason I have had the pleasure of seeing him work with clients. I am currently in the process of a full back tattoo by Rich Cosgrove and his station is caddy corner to Jason's. In 40+ hours of being tattooed by Rich I have never seen Jason do anything but bend over backwards to please his clients. He routinely hits the nail right on the head and his clients approve of the first tattoo design he comes up with. In my opinion this is because he thoughtfully listens to the client and his desire is to please the customer first. I have never seen him act in anyway other than completely professional. Even when a client threw up on Jason he maintained his usual calm demeanor and politely excused himself to run home to change his shirt. If that isn't professional I don't know what is.

i just commented on the bad review, but it didn't seem to work.
it went something like this:

jason did my first tattoo a few years ago. i didn't like first picture he drew for me, so he drew it over and over and over again until it was exactly what i wanted. he was very patient, and very nice and the tattoo turned out great! i've gone back to jason a couple of times and am still very happy with him and his work.

tattoo shops aren't run like mcdonalds. unless you want the tattoo equivalent of a double cheeseburger, don't rush things.

also, on rateitall.com, the official listing for inka dinka doo is under inka dinka doo. not inkadinkadoo. and it's not in oakland anymore.

Well...not really Props for this place. Been mulling over a tattoo for a few years now and finally crossed a bit of a milestone and thought This was the appropriate time. At the recommendation of a friend i popped into this place and promptly met up with a fella by the name of Jason McGarry. Very nice and soft spoken. Gave him several color prints to go by and spoke about using pieces from each picture to get what I was looking for. Made an appointment for a week later and left a few bucks to secure a spot. Come the big day I feel very secure in my decision and ready(long time coming). I show up and wait.....for 30 minutes. Jason walks in and says you must be my 1pm and walks on. He finally comes back and say "I was lazy and didn't draw anything, but i will do up something real quick" He comes back 20 minutes later with some stuff he printed off the Internet with childlike pencil marks by him. ?????? I said these were nothing like the pictures i had given him nor what we had talked about. Already an hour past the scheduled appointment he leaves again and comes back another 30 minutes later with more Internet printed material. That's what I did for him initially! I came to him b/c he is an artist and I am not. I left 2 hours after I got there with a horrible feeling in my gut. I returned a couple weeks later as my schedule is very tight to retrieve my money and was denied. So...with all this professional treatment from an "artist" which I though were somehow synonymous I am robbed of my money. Nowhere on my appointment card does it say non-refundable and no where does it say that I should be treated with such poor service. If he had followed through with his end of the agreement and put forth the effort and I was the one who failed to show up or meet the terms then I could see me being the one who breached the deal. Why should I be penalized for his uncaring and unprofessional treatment? What a horrible experience for my first tattoo. This meant a lot to me. I hope i can get by this experience and pursue my goal but somehow i feel that my milestone would not be recognized any longer by a tattoo.
