I know it's very beautiful, and the people actually care about the environment, but I'm not sure I could take the hard winters.

Positives:

A far greater percentage of intelligent people than in any other state.

Beautiful scenery.

Great roads for motorcycling in summer.

Negatives:

Nine months of winter and three months of damned poor sledding.

No nightlife to speak of.

Vermont is a nice state, very green in the summer, & friendly people. Winter sports are great. Other than that it is a bit isolated for my current tastes. If I had a job opp that was really good in Burlington, I would consider it b/c Montreal is also just a couple hours away. My family lives about 5 hours from that area so that would factor in.

As much as I've loved New England all my life, there have been only a few of its states that I've actually visited-- Connecticut (visited there the most over the years since childhood with my parents), Massachusetts (I had a cousin who lived in Chelmsford, so, after Connecticut, I was in Mass. most frequently), and Rhode Island. I've never been to Maine, or New Hampshire (my maternal great-grandfather came from there, and there's actually a hospital still in existence named after his family), or Vermont. As far as Vermont goes, I've been close--- I've heard that if I continue up the Taconic just a bit further, I'm there. So, if I've never been there, why would I want to move there? Because I've heard it exemplifies everything I love about New England. Then again, maybe spending one Winter there would be enough to send me scurrying back to NJ.

I liked to watch Newhart and Vermont seems like a really nice place to live, and the charming little inns, maybe, or the villages and towns, and the pretty scenery makes this a desirable cold state moving place!

Northern California culture with east coast weather. If I had to live on the East coast, I'd probably live in Vermont. Burlington preferably.

This is a place where all the idiot liberal elitists can move to get away from black people and pretend they aren't racist bigots because they simply won't ever have to talk to any. Besides, its too cold there. It would be only one star if it weren't so darn pretty there, and I do respect their independent attitude.

I have a love affair with the Green Mountain State. Ithas BEAUTIFUL scenery, with activities for all seasons. Hiking in the spring and summer, Apple picking and farm visiting in the fall, and awesome skiing in the winter. It also is the home of Ben and Jerry's ice cream (yummy)and Burlington is one of the most lively towns in the country during the summer. It's also very pro-liberal, so there are few big corporations or oppressive laws. (It also means lots of hippies and potheads, who actually are pretty cool people if you get to know them.) Just watch out for the COLD winters, which deduct one star from my rating, and you'll be fine.
