This is about having enough respect for yourself to behave properly, instead of stooping to someone else's level. I'm not perfect at this by no means, but it's a good ideal to strive for. :)

I try to be polite. It can be harder to be nice to someone who is crummy to me. It depends I may not be polite but I will not give them the satisfaction of being rude back. maybe just make it clear i am ignoring their attempt to be nasty. either way, if they do not get the reaction they wanted that is fine for me.

similar to kill people with kindness. anyway if you are polite it shows that you are above all that. that you are happy with your own life and have no need to take it out on anyone else. i try very hard not to be rude to someone just for the sake of being rude. i feel people don;t deserve that just because i may be having a bad day.

Great quote! This is a great philosophy to follow, because this will allow people that disagree with you 100% to be forced to at least grudgingly respect you. And, this will give you the high ground by default.
