I bought the complete series in DVD and it stands the test of time. I understand it influenced X-Files. It is amazing that the t.v. moguls don't recognize good quality when they have it. Darren McGavin is always worth watching. He is likable. That goes a long way. I missed all of the new series that ran in 2005 on ABC although it was so short-lived that I probably was not the only one who missed the series.

used to watch this pretty good show. Darren McGaven was good as Kolchak. he had a different way of solving crimes he went for the horror cases. good actor. wish I could remember more of this show.

I remember The Night Stalker being so scary, the lead actor really did a wonderful job of being frightened, this in turn made the happenings 'believable'. I 'believed' in zombies while watching Night Stalker

A really funny sci-fi/ horror series that unfortunately only lasted for a season, though there's a pretty bad remake of the show out now. McGavin was excellent in this, self deprecating and witty, and before the show came out, there were 2 tv movies that were actually quite good. Lots of guest stars, and Simon Oakland was also very good as his editor. The type of show that could laugh at itself a little, and, although a few episodes weren't very good, it had some good and thought provoking plots.

A great show that so many have copied from. One of the first times I saw a show combine horror with humour.

Pretty good show at the time it came out. Not great, but Darren McGavin made a name for himself on it.
