Stargate SG-1 3

It was pretty weak when it started out, but now I kind of like the series.

The best thing about the series, is that it ended while it still was on top.

Stargate SG-1 5

Most TV shows that run ten years will not finish well and Stargate wasn't an exception to this. First they lost the great dynamic among SG-1 with the departure of Richard Dean Anderson, but also the authors fell victim to the success they gave their characters. The switch from the main antagonist being something somewhat explainable with our present science to the supernatural ori was not a successful move. It was akin to the marriage or child that come along and spell the end of many prime time comedies. When your tried and true story lines are getting old adding a completely new element will get you through at least one or two more seasons.

Stargate SG-1 5

Can't beleive this show is so far down the list! Its the best sci-fi show on TV. Very realistic, things are made to seem quite plausible. Love the special effects, the characters and story lines. They keep it fresh and fun year after year.

Stargate SG-1 5

When I first started watching this show, I came in during the middle of the series. The gate was cool (I had seen the movie), but who were all these new characters, villains and topics? Tok'ra, Asgard...ehh? I was confused. I talked to others and they said the same thing. And nearly every scene (Seasons 2-4) seemed like it was in a Goa'uld cargo ship. -- Now that I've seen it from the beginning, it makes perfect sense, and I think they've done a terrific job taking the original, moderately-interesting storyline and blowing it out into a full series. Hey, still going after nine years and it's spun off Atlantis and a cartoon...they're having some ratings success. -- The thing about this show that gets me is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. They constantly poke fun at both themselves and a lot of other sci-fi shows, but without getting too far out of character. And Richard Dean Anderson just cracks me up. -- After 8 years, though, as with the X-Files, it feels like it's getting a little long in the tooth, and I'm sure the cast has enjoyed the ride but are looking for new challenges and characters to play. Even so, I give it a big-ass Thumbs Up, baby! Jaffa, CREE!
