Cysteine directly counteracts the effects of acetaldehyde which is the chemical reponsible for most of your hangover symptoms. Eggs are a great idea, but try to get down liquids first if your feeling really crappy.

Precisely! Eat and drink and eat and drink and eat and drink and eat. Eat and drink until you feel better. I am not saying eat a lot, and I cetainly don't mean drink alcohol. A variety is helpful. Replace surgars, salts, minerals and vitamins that you pissed away the night before. Always works for me by noon.

Nothing like a nice greasy breakfast after a night spent getting rip-roaring - sh_tfaced.

I don't care if it works, I get sick just thinking about it. . .

Well since just the smell of eggs cooking could cause me to heave, I don't think the actual eating part would be physically possible!

Protein helps absorb alcohol. This is probably why eggs help prevent a hangover. So, meat, cheese, and other protein-rich foods should help in lessening hangover effects.

This lacks something, somehow. I definitely think it's a good idea to eat. But that helps much more WHILE you are drinking. Though even then, eggs wouldn't absorb and slow down the entry of alcohol into your bloodstream as well as other foods.
