I don't know how much I could trust that authenticity of the signatures on the Magna Carta. The only signatures I saw were Ken Griffey, Jr. and Richard Simmons.

Would have been interesting to witness. Even though this really didn't symbolize the rise of democracy in the modern sense, the signing of the Magna Carta was a major step towards reducing the power of a strong monarch in Britain. In reality it was signed to protect the nobility and the landowners from the whims of the king, specifically one like King John. But the system was hardly democratic, indeed it was still very elitist and would remain so in England until 1832.
