While I am not a Rush fan, I cannot deny Neil Peart's technical skills.

Perhaps the best drummer ever.....

I think NEIL really rules 'cause he beats the drums as no one I've ever seen and he's been an inspiration to guys like the awesome Dreamtheater drumer MIKE PORTNOY.
All we know that Neil is not a young boy, but he plays better than any 20 or 30 years youngest man, he is the soul behond Rush and to see him is to get stunt.

Neil Peart would be the most technical drummer in the world, as being the best, that is like saying Steve Perry is the best singer in the world. It's all preference. Technically, Phil Collins or Bill Bruford are either on par or slightly below Neil. I personally would want Phil Collins more than anyone else. Neil sounds too technical, like a machine. Phil is more organic with more of a groove to his playing, which Neil still to this day needs help on. Neil could never swing as well as Phil. Those three are the best and honestly when you get that good, it's hard to judge one being the best

If I were starting a band from scratch and could have any drummer that's ever lived, my choice would be Keith Moon. Best ever IMO. Peart is damn good though. Jimmy Chamberlin is right there with him though, make no mistake about that...

Certainly the best drummer in the world and Rush are a great and very talented band, but erm... ahem... you missed the fact that he is Canadian.

He is probably the greatest technical rock drummer in the world today. I can't imagine him doing any Keith Moon-style kit-bashing, but he more than compensates for this by his inventiveness and complete mastery of all percussion. His 360-degree drumkit is one of the largest I've ever seen and includes about a dozen different cymbals and even a xylophone. He would definitely be my choice for a North American supergroup.

I'm not going to say anything that hasn't been said before, because i can't. I'll just tell you again how great this guy is. Possibly the best ever drummer in any category (maybe)and arguably the greatest living drummer.
