I voted 2 because as a guitarist, he takes some matching but as a vocalist, he doesn't cut it when compared to some others.

I saw Mr. Knopfler in concert recently. He is a consummate musician, and the music was wonderful. And he makes it look effortless. His solo work is every bit as good as the Dire Straits material, perhaps better. I hope I get to see him again.
